Whilst the technique of Multiple Exposure is an ongoing project of mine, undertaken across numerous countries, this New York series is the most revealing. All multiple exposures were taken ‘in camera’, so not created later.
On a trip to New York I started in Times Square and traversed the streets throughout the day, down to the financial district, looking for light and juxtaposing motifs. The challenge is capturing the first image almost imagining or pre-visualising the second image prior. Colours, shapes, and subject are all considerations that start to intertwine to create either an aesthetic or conceptually meaningful image.
